OK – I didn’t write this, but I find it very interesting! You meet someone and you feel butterflies all over and chemistry sends chills up your spine and it just won’t quit. Ten years later you wake up one morning thinking — ” He smells”. OK. . . well maybe not that bad . . . but the question hangs over your head of what the heck was I thinking???? HMMMM. . . I would have never put up with a smelly man when I was dating – blah, blah, blah.
In the 70’s Dorothy Tennov wrote an interesting book and theory about the gooey feeling – why it’s in our nature, how long it lasts, and why it goes away. I find lots of holes in her theory and further research should be done, but heck – it gave me an A-HA moment. . . Here are some links that give some summary pages and informal reviews.
